Okay, so, I’ve been meaning to bulk up a bit, get some real muscle going. But, you know, gym memberships can be a real pain in the wallet. I kept thinking, “There’s gotta be a cheaper way.” Then it hit me – those gyms that are always closing down? They must be selling their stuff for cheap, right?
So, I started looking into it. I spent a few days just scouring the internet, local papers, you name it. Looking for any gym that was going out of business. I saw that there are lots of unused memberships, the money is crazy. It seems lots of fitness business fails at the first year, about 80 percent, it’s a big number. Even though gyms often fail, but I believe I can find some good deals. I finally found a few places and decided to check them out in person.
The first gym I went to, man, it was a sad sight. Weights were all over the place, machines were dusty, and the whole place just felt… defeated. But hey, their loss, my gain, right? I talked to the owner, a real nice guy who was clearly bummed about closing up shop. He told me he was selling everything at rock-bottom prices.
- I picked up a decent barbell for like, 50 bucks.
- I got some weight plates for a price that was almost a steal.
I was feeling pretty good about myself at this point. Then I visited another gym, this one a bit fancier but still closing down. I was like a kid in a candy store. They had all sorts of machines I’d only ever seen on TV.
- I negotiated for a while and ended up getting a whole set of dumbbells, practically brand new, for a fraction of what they’d cost new.
- They had this leg press machine, the kind that makes your legs scream but gives you killer results. It was a bit pricier, but I decided to go for it. It was still way cheaper than anything I could find online or in a store.
I spent a good chunk of my weekend driving around, loading up my car with all this gym equipment. My garage is now basically a mini-gym. I’ve got everything I need to get ripped, and I didn’t even have to break the bank.
It’s a win-win, really.
Those gyms got to get rid of their stuff, and I got a home gym for a price that makes me feel like I pulled off the heist of the century. If you’re thinking about getting in shape but don’t want to pay those crazy gym fees, I highly recommend checking out some closing-down sales. You might be surprised at what you can find. Just be prepared to haggle a bit and get your hands dirty – it’s all part of the fun!
