Well, I heard some folks talking ’bout that Department of Health and Human Services thing on that Fox 5 channel the other day. I don’t rightly know all the fancy words they use, but I reckon it’s important, that’s what they keep saying. Something ’bout keepin’ us all healthy and such. They got all these big shots on the TV talkin’ about it, you know, wearin’ them nice suits.
That Fox 5, they always got somethin’ on there. Sometimes it’s folks yellin’ at each other, sometimes it’s people talkin’ ’bout the weather. They say it’s somethin’ called “the news.” They talk about this Department of Health and Human Services on that channel, they sure do. And then they got those other channels, too. Too many of ’em if you ask me. But the health thing, that’s what they talk about a lot on Fox 5.
They said this department, it’s part of the government. You know, them big buildings in Washington. That’s where they make all them rules. And this health department, they make rules ’bout doctors and medicine and hospitals, I reckon. Keepin’ track of the sick folks, makin’ sure the hospitals are clean, that kinda thing. It’s a big job, that’s for sure.
And that Fox 5, they always showin’ pictures of the people who work at that Department of Health and Human Services. Some of ’em are doctors, I think. They talk about new sicknesses goin’ around and how to keep from catchin’ ’em. Wash your hands, they say. Cover your mouth when you cough. Simple things, really.
- Wash your hands a lot, they say.
- Don’t be touching your face.
- If you are feelin’ sick, stay home.
Now, they were talkin’ about some money, too. Big pile of money this department’s gettin’. Gonna use it to help those clinics, they said. The places where you go when you’re feelin’ poorly. They say it’s gonna help people get better. I hope that’s true. We need more places to go when we’re sick, that’s for sure. Especially for those folks who been sick for a long time. They need all the help they can get.
This Fox 5, they had a man on there, some kinda doctor, I think. He was talkin’ ’bout some fella runnin’ for president, or somethin’ like that. Said he had a plan for the health department. Change things up, he said. Make it better. Well, I hope he knows what he’s doin’. It’s a mighty big job, runnin’ that whole department.
They also got some other fella on the TV talkin’ about this Department of Health and Human Services. They say this fella is a doctor, too. He sure talks a lot. He was sayin’ that this department, they gotta make sure the food we eat ain’t gonna make us sick. Seems like a good idea to me. Don’t want no bad food makin’ people sick. This Fox 5 channel, they always talkin’ about food, it seems.
They say this Department of Health and Human Services, they been around a long time. Longer than I been alive, I reckon. They do a lot of different things. It ain’t just about doctors and hospitals. It’s about all kinds of things that help people. They got programs, they call ’em. Ways to help folks who need it. Old folks, poor folks, sick folks.
Now, I don’t know all the ins and outs of it. It’s all very confusin’ to me. But I hear them talkin’ about it on that Fox 5, and it sounds important. Keepin’ people healthy, that’s a good thing. Makin’ sure the hospitals are clean, that’s important, too. And helpin’ folks who need it, well, that’s just the right thing to do.
I reckon that’s all I know ’bout that Department of Health and Human Services and that Fox 5. They talk about it all the time, so it must be somethin’ big. They say it is important for everybody. I reckon they are right, It seems like it does a lot of good things for people. It is a lot to keep track of. But they say it is important, so I guess it is.
They got all those fancy words and numbers, but the gist of it is, they’re tryin’ to keep us all healthy. And that Fox 5, they just keep talkin’ and talkin’ about it. Sometimes they show pictures of people gettin’ shots. Sometimes they show pictures of hospitals. They always say this Department of Health and Human Services is doin’ somethin’ to help. Hope they are right about that. We sure need the help.
