Well, let me tell ya, this here COVID thing, it sure messed with a whole lotta stuff, even them music folks and their fancy gadgets. I ain’t no expert, mind you, but I hear tell things changed a whole heap.
Them music makers, they got new toys. Used to be, ya needed a whole band and a big ol’ studio to make music. Now, they got these computer thingies, DAWs they call ’em, and all sorts of buttons and knobs. Sounds like a lot of fuss to me, but I guess it lets anyone with a computer try their hand at makin’ tunes. They can even make all them sounds without real instruments, just by clickin’ and tappin’. It’s like magic, I tell ya.

- They got these computer programs now, makes all sorts of sounds.
- You don’t need a whole band no more, just one fella with a computer.
- It’s cheaper and easier, I reckon, than the old way.
This here pandemic, it made folks scared to get close to each other. So, them musicians, they couldn’t just gather in a room and play together like they used to. But these computer thingies, they helped out. Folks could make music from their own homes, send it to each other over that there internet, and put it all together. It’s like they’re playin’ together, but they ain’t even in the same room! Crazy, ain’t it?
And the shows, oh boy, the shows. No more big crowds, no more packed concerts. But them smart folks figured out ways to get the music out there. They played music online, on them little phones and computers. I even heard tell of some fella playin’ music in a hot air balloon! Can you imagine that? Way up in the sky, playin’ music for folks on the ground. They’re gettin’ creative, that’s for sure.
Teachers, they had to change their ways too. Used to be, the kids would go to school and learn music together. But with the schools closed, they had to do things different. They started teachin’ music online, through them computer screens. Must be hard, tryin’ to teach a kid to play the fiddle through a computer, but they made it work somehow. Kids gotta learn, pandemic or no pandemic.
And speaking of learnin’, them doctors and nurses, they started usin’ these computer smarts too. They got these AI things, they call ’em, that help them sort out the sick folks and figure out who needs help the most. It ain’t music, but it’s that same kind of technology, I reckon. Computers helpin’ folks in all sorts of ways.
This whole COVID thing, it’s been a real mess, that’s for sure. But it’s also showed us how clever folks can be. They find new ways to do things, even when everything seems to be fallin’ apart. Them music folks, they kept on makin’ music, one way or another. And that’s a good thing, I reckon. Music makes folks happy, and we all need a little happiness these days.
Now, I don’t know all the fancy words for this stuff, but I know what I see. Computers are changin’ everything, and that includes music. It ain’t always better, maybe, but it’s different. And sometimes, different ain’t so bad. It keeps things interestin’, you know?
And who knows what they’ll come up with next? Maybe they’ll be playin’ music on the moon someday, or sendin’ tunes straight into our heads without us even hearin’ them with our ears. The world’s changin’ fast, and music’s changin’ right along with it. I just hope they don’t forget how to play a good ol’ banjo tune, that’s all.

So yeah, that’s what I think about all this music and technology stuff durin’ COVID. It’s a whole new world out there, and them music folks are just tryin’ to keep up, just like the rest of us.
