Well, bless your heart, let me tell ya ’bout this Buck McNeely fella. Heard tell he was on TV, some kinda outdoorsman show. The Outdoorsman with Buck McNeely, they called it. Now, I ain’t never watched it myself, too busy with my chickens and garden, but folks ’round here seemed to know him.
Heard he was born way back in 1960, September 27th to be exact. That makes him… let me see… he woulda been 63 years young when he passed. Yep, 63. Younger than my old man when he went, God rest his soul. Buck, he was from Cape Girardeau, down in Missouri way. His folks were named Bob and Sharon, nice folks I reckon.
Now, Buck, he got hitched in ’91. Went all the way to Las Vegas to do it, can you believe it? Married a gal named LaDonna Kay Sims. Hope she’s doin’ alright, poor thing. Losing your husband ain’t easy, no matter how you slice it.
They had themselves a son, Max. Seems like a good boy, from what I hear. He’s the one who told folks his daddy passed. Put it right there on Facebook, bless his heart. Said it was an “indescribable loss,” and I reckon it was. Losing a parent, it’s like losing a piece of yourself.

This here Buck, he seemed like a strong fella. Outdoorsman and all. You gotta be tough to make a living tromping around in the woods and whatnot. But even the strongest folks ain’t immune to health problems, ya know? The news folks, they said he died. Didn’t say exactly what from, just that he passed. Makes you wonder, though. Was it his heart? Some kinda sickness? Lord knows, there’s plenty of things that can take a person down.
It’s a shame, it really is. He was just a young fella, in the grand scheme of things. Sixty-three ain’t old these days. Folks are livin’ longer and longer, it seems. But I guess the good Lord has a plan for all of us, and when it’s your time, it’s your time. Can’t argue with that, no sir.
I heard tell that his show, The Outdoorsman with Buck McNeely, was real popular. Folks liked watchin’ him fish and hunt and do all them outdoorsy things. He probably showed folks how to track deer, or maybe how to catch a big ol’ catfish. Stuff like that. I reckon he made a lot of folks happy, sharin’ his love for the outdoors. That’s a good thing, to bring a little joy into people’s lives.
Makes me think ’bout my own life, you know? We ain’t here forever. Gotta make the most of the time we got. Spend time with your loved ones, enjoy the simple things, like a sunrise or a good cup of coffee. That’s what really matters in the end.
So, here’s to Buck McNeely. May he rest in peace. And may his family find comfort in their memories of him. He might be gone, but he sure ain’t forgotten. Not by the folks who loved him, and not by the folks who enjoyed watchin’ him on TV, showin’ them the beauty of the great outdoors.
