Alright, let’s talk about them sports teams in Seattle, you know, the ones they always blabberin’ about on the TV. I ain’t no expert, mind you, but I hear things, see things, and I got my own two cents to throw in.
First off, there’s them Seahawks, the football fellas. Big guys, runnin’ around, smashin’ into each other. Sometimes they win, sometimes they lose, makes no sense half the time. They got this fella, what’s his name… used to be pretty good, throwin’ the ball and all. Now? I dunno, seems like they always gettin’ beat by them 49ers. Heard on the radio they won a close one the other day, 21-20, somethin’ like that. Finished the season 9-8, they say. Good for them, I guess. They talk about touchdowns and field goals, all these fancy words. I just wanna see ’em win, that’s all.

Then there’s the Mariners, the baseball boys. Swingin’ them bats, tryin’ to hit that little white ball. Now, baseball, that’s a game I can kinda understand. Hit the ball, run around, try not to get out. Simple enough. They lose a lot, it seems like. But sometimes, they hit a home run and everyone goes wild. Makes for a good time, even if you don’t know what’s going on half the time. ESPN, they always got the scores, but I mostly just listen to what the fella at the diner says. He knows everything about those Mariners.
- Seahawks – Football fellas, big and strong.
- Mariners – Baseball boys, hittin’ and runnin’.
They got other teams too, I hear. Kraken, they play that hockey, skatin’ on ice, knockin’ each other around with sticks. Seems dangerous to me. Then there’s the Sounders, kickin’ that soccer ball, runnin’ up and down the field. And the Storm, them women basketball players, they pretty good. And the Reign, another soccer team, I think. So many teams, hard to keep track of ’em all.
You know, they got this paper, the Seattle Times, always yappin’ about all the sports. They got all the news, who won, who lost, who got hurt. Sometimes I read it, if I got my glasses on and the print ain’t too small. They tell you all about the players, their stats, and all that jazz. I just wanna know if they won or not, not all that other stuff.
They got websites too, these days. , I heard someone say. Probably got all the fancy pictures and videos and whatnot. Me? I like to hear it from people, you know, word of mouth. That’s how we did it back in the day, and it worked just fine.
Injuries, they always talkin’ about injuries. Someone’s always gettin’ hurt, twistin’ an ankle, breakin’ a bone. These young fellas, gotta be more careful. They got trades too, sendin’ players here and there. Drafts, pickin’ new players. It’s all a big business, I tell ya. Lots of money changin’ hands.
The Huskies and the Cougars, them college teams. They get a lot of attention too. Youngsters, playin’ their hearts out. It’s all excitin’, I guess, but sometimes I just wanna sit on the porch with a glass of lemonade and listen to the birds. That’s entertainment enough for me.
Anyway, that’s what I know about Seattle sports. It’s a big deal around here, always somethin’ goin’ on. Win or lose, they keep playin’, and we keep watchin’… or listenin’, in my case.
