Alright, alright, let’s talk about this Michael Medved health stuff. I ain’t no fancy doctor or nothin’, just an old woman who’s seen a thing or two. But common sense, that’s somethin’ I got plenty of.
So, this Michael, he’s all about livin’ longer and healthier, right? Well, ain’t that what we all want? I mean, who wants to be all bent over and achin’ before their time? Nobody, that’s who. This fella, he ain’t talkin’ ’bout some magic potion or nothin’. He’s talkin’ ’bout doin’ things the right way, the plain and simple way.

First thing’s first, you gotta watch what you eat. Stuff your face with too much junk, and you’ll feel like junk. That’s just how it is. Eat your veggies, your fruits, the stuff that grows outta the ground, not the stuff that comes outta some factory. My ma always said, “an apple a day keeps the doctor away,” and she was right about most things, bless her heart.
And move around, for crying out loud! You can’t just sit on your behind all day and expect to be healthy. Get up, walk around, do some chores. I used to work in the fields all day, and we didn’t need no fancy gym back then. We were strong as oxen, all of us. Now, I ain’t sayin’ you gotta go work in the fields, but you gotta move. Even a little walk around the block is better than nothin’.
Then there’s this talk about the waist size. Well, I’ll tell ya, keepin’ your belly in check, that’s important. When you start gettin’ too big around the middle, that’s when the trouble starts. You start feelin’ sluggish, your joints start hurtin’, and next thing you know, you can’t even tie your own shoes without huffin’ and puffin’. So watch what you eat and keep movin’, that’s what I say.
- Eat good food
- Move your body
- Keep your waist in check
This ain’t rocket science, folks. It’s just common sense. And this Michael, he’s just remindin’ us of the things we already know. He’s done his research, or so they say, and all that science stuff just backs up what our grandmas and grandpas always told us.
They talk about a “health span” too. That just means livin’ good for longer, not just livin’ longer. What’s the point of livin’ to be a hundred if you’re miserable for half of it? You want to be able to enjoy your life, play with your grandkids, and still be able to get around without a walker. That’s what it’s all about.
And it ain’t just about not gettin’ sick. Sure, nobody wants to be sick, but even if you do get somethin’, you want to be strong enough to fight it off. You want to be able to bounce back. That’s what bein’ healthy is all about, bein’ strong and resilient, like an old oak tree.
So, what’s the secret to livin’ longer and healthier? Well, there ain’t no one secret, is there? It’s a whole bunch of little things, all added up. It’s about makin’ good choices, day in and day out. It’s about eatin’ right, movin’ your body, and takin’ care of yourself. It’s about listenin’ to your body and doin’ what’s right for you.

This Michael, he might have fancy words and all that, but he’s sayin’ the same thing my grandma used to say. Take care of yourself, and you’ll live a good, long life. And that’s the truth, plain and simple.
Don’t go lookin’ for no magic pill, ’cause there ain’t one. The magic is in you, in the choices you make every day. So choose wisely, my friends, choose wisely. Your body will thank you for it.
And one last thing, don’t forget to laugh. Laughter’s good for the soul, and a happy soul makes for a healthy body. So find somethin’ to laugh about every day, even if it’s just at yourself. Life’s too short to be serious all the time.
