Alright, let’s gab about these “political t-shirts,” you know, the ones with all them slogans and pictures and stuff. I see folks wearin’ ’em everywhere now, guess they wanna tell the world what they think. Don’t know why they just don’t say it, but hey, that’s their business, not mine.
So, what kinda political t-shirts you got? Well, seems like there’s a whole mess of ’em. You got your conservative t-shirts, them folks who like things the way they always been, I reckon. Then you got your liberal t-shirts, them’s the ones always wantin’ change, always somethin’ new, seems like. Can’t keep up with ’em, I tell ya.
And don’t forget the funny political t-shirts. Now, some of them are right clever, gotta give ’em that. Seen one the other day with a picture of a donkey wearin’ a hat, made me chuckle a bit. But some of ’em, well, they just ain’t funny at all, just plain mean, if you ask me. But folks wear ’em anyway, I guess.
Then there’s t-shirts for the ladies, they call ’em political t-shirts for women. Got all sorts of things on ’em, you know, about women’s rights and such. Good for them, I say, standin’ up for what they believe in. It’s a free country, ain’t it? Well, mostly free, I guess.
- You got your t-shirts with slogans, you know, like “Vote for so-and-so” or “Make America somethin’ or other.” Folks wear them to show who they’re supportin’.
- Then you got t-shirts with pictures, maybe a picture of the president, or some other famous fella. Or sometimes just a flag, or an eagle, somethin’ like that.
- And then there’s them t-shirts with just words, big ol’ words sometimes, sayin’ things like “freedom” or “democracy” or somethin’. Guess they want everyone to know they’re patriotic, or somethin’.
Now, where do you get these political t-shirts? Well, seems like you can get ’em just about anywhere these days. Seen ’em at the mall, at the flea market, even at the dang grocery store! And of course, you can get ’em online, that’s where most folks get everything now, I hear. Just type in “political t-shirts” and a whole mess of ’em pop up, all different colors and sizes and prices.
Speaking of prices, some of them t-shirts are right expensive, you know? Thirty, forty dollars sometimes, for a t-shirt! That’s highway robbery, if you ask me. But folks pay it, guess they figure it’s worth it to show off their politics. Me? I’d rather spend that money on a good meal, somethin’ that’ll stick to your ribs, you know?
Some folks say these political t-shirts are a good thing, a way to get people talkin’ about important stuff. And maybe they are, I don’t know. But seems like to me, all they do is make folks argue more. You wear a t-shirt for one side, and somebody else wears a t-shirt for the other side, and next thing you know, they’re yellin’ at each other. Don’t see no good in that, myself.
But hey, like I said, it’s a free country. If folks wanna wear political t-shirts, that’s their right. Just don’t be surprised if somebody don’t agree with ya, that’s all I’m sayin’. And for goodness sake, don’t go gettin’ into a fistfight over a t-shirt. It ain’t worth it, I tell ya.
Some places, like this ALLRIOT place, they call wearin’ these t-shirts “everyday activism.” Guess that means you’re makin’ a statement just by walkin’ around in it. And there’s places like Radical Rags, they got all sorts of t-shirts for different causes, like savin’ the planet and such. So, you can find a t-shirt for just about anything you believe in, it seems.
So, there you have it, my two cents on political t-shirts. Take it or leave it, don’t matter to me. I’m just an old woman, what do I know? But I do know this: it’s a whole lot easier to just get along with folks, no matter what kinda t-shirt they’re wearin’. That’s the truth, if I ever did speak it.
One more thing, don’t be fooled by fancy words and slogans. Think for yourself, that’s what I always say. And don’t let nobody tell you what to believe, especially not some t-shirt. Alright, I’m done now. Gotta go make some supper.
