Well, let me tell ya somethin’ ’bout this Eagle-Tribune Sports thing. I ain’t no fancy sportswriter, ya hear? Just an old woman who likes watchin’ the young’uns run around and throw balls. But I reckon I can tell ya what I see.

Eagle-Tribune, now that’s a name you hear a lot ’round here. They got that paper, see? And they talk about all sorts of things, but this here is about the sports part. They cover all the local games, high school stuff mostly, and some other things too, I guess. Them kids, they play hard, real hard.
I saw somethin’ ’bout girls’ basketball, them young ladies runnin’ up and down the court. Fast, like little rabbits! There was talk of some coach, Middlemiss, I think his name was. Sounded like a good fella, tryin’ to get the girls a good league to play in, so they can get better and maybe even go to college on a scholarship. Good for them, I say! Them girls need somethin’ to keep ’em outta trouble.

I’ve seen these names in the paper, all them towns playin’ against each other. It gets pretty excitin’, even for an old biddy like me. Sometimes I don’t understand all the rules, but I know when a ball goes in the hoop, that’s good! And when they kick the ball in the net, that’s good too. Except when it’s the other team, then it ain’t so good.
They got this Player of the Year thing too. Some girl, Pickles her name was, plays soccer real good. Eagle-Tribune said she was the best. That’s somethin’ to be proud of, I reckon. Her folks must be happy as clams. Workin’ hard and playin’ hard, that’s what it’s all about.
Now, I don’t know nothin’ ’bout this Twitter thing they talk about. @eagletribsports, whatever that means. Young folks these days with their phones and their computers, always tappin’ and clickin’. But I hear that’s where they put all the scores and stuff, so folks know who won and who lost. Back in my day, we just waited for the paper to come out, or maybe listened to the radio.

They even had this fella, Burt, talkin’ about sports. “Burt Talks Sports,” they called it. I didn’t go, mind you, but I read somethin’ about it. He probably knows a whole heap more than me. I just like watchin’ the kids play. It reminds me of when I was young, runnin’ around without a care in the world. Times were simpler then.
Seems like the Eagle-Tribune is right in the middle of it all, tellin’ everyone what’s goin’ on. They write about all the games, high school and whatever else, and they even give out awards. And they had a bit of trouble with the mail, somethin’ about contest winners not bein’ announced on time. Well, things happen, I always say. Can’t get your knickers in a twist over every little thing.
So, that’s what I know ’bout the Eagle-Tribune Sports. It’s about the kids, the games, and the folks who care about ’em. It’s about community, I guess you could say. And that’s a good thing, ain’t it? Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go make myself a cup of tea. All this talkin’ has made me thirsty.
