Hey everyone, so I was messing around online the other day, trying to solve this crossword puzzle. The clue was “2022 World Cup Golden Ball winner,” and I was stumped for a bit.
First, I started by googling around. I typed in the clue, hoping that someone else had already figured it out. I found a bunch of crossword solver sites, which was a good start. Most of them listed this clue as having been seen in the LA Times and The New York Times crosswords recently.

Browsed through a few of these sites. They all seemed to agree that there was one main answer. Some of them even showed the date the clue appeared, like May 24th in the LA Times Crossword or September 25th, 2024, in the NYT Crossword. I thought it was interesting to see how many different times this question had popped up in different puzzles.
- Reading through the search results, one site mentioned they had found 40 possible answers for this clue. 40!
- But, most of them were zeroing in on just one specific answer.
- And then, scrolling further, I saw another site that claimed to have 30 answers, but again, they all pointed towards the same one.
Finally, I pieced it all together. All these different sources were basically saying the same thing, though they had different ways of getting there. It’s wild how many different angles you can look at the same clue from.
So, after all that digging, I finally solved the clue. It was a good reminder that sometimes, you just gotta look at things from a few different perspectives to get the answer. And hey, it’s pretty cool to see how many people out there are into crosswords and are willing to help each other out.
